Specialist AHP Neuro Oncology Rehabilitation

Qualifying as a physiotherapist in 2004 working at Bolton hospital then continued at Salford Royal Hospital. My specialist interests are spasticity, tracheotomy weaning and neuro-oncology.

Post graduate training has been a passion throughout my career. I have completed a number of MSc modules in advanced physiotherapy, most recently MSc Non-medical injecting (NMI) for spasticity management, use of ultrasound for injection therapy. I am a non-medical prescribing independent prescriber. I maintain my injection therapy competencies through neuro rehab clinic.

I am passionate about teaching, developing teaching programs at Salford, a 6 month teaching post for the MSc undergraduate MMU physio course.

In Jan 2022 embarked on a secondment at The Christies and MCCN Salford neuro-oncology services as a specialist AHP for brain and spinal tumour rehabilitation.

The aim of this role is to guide patients and relatives to recognise when rehab can help them and work as advocates for them in accessing appropriate rehab as well as offering specialist training for rehab professionals to help them to better meet the rehab needs of brain and spinal tumour patients.
