Dr. Marco Palombo

Associate Professor, Cardiff University

Dr. Marco Palombo is an Associate Professor, UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, and Head of Microstructure Imaging at the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), Cardiff University (UK), where he co-leads the MicroTeam and Medical Image Computing groups.

Previously, he worked as a research associate in Dr. Julien Valette’s lab at MIRCen, CEA (France), and as a senior research associate in the group led by Prof. Hui Zhang and Prof. Daniel C. Alexander at University College London (UK).

Dr. Palombo holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Physics from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), specializing in biophysical modeling, machine learning, computational modeling, medical imaging, and data analysis. His research program focuses on integrating advanced computational and biophysical modeling with MRI and cutting-edge machine learning techniques to develop innovative healthcare imaging technologies. These technologies aim to enhance early diagnosis and prognosis of neurological and psychiatric disorders, as well as cancer.
