Dr. Jamie Dean

Junior Group Leader in Computational Radiation Biology, University College London

Dr. Jamie Dean leads the Computational Radiation Biology Lab at University College London. The Lab research mechanisms of radiotherapy resistance of brain tumours and radiotherapy-induced normal brain toxicity using computational modelling, working in close collaboration with experimental biologists and clinicians. They then exploit this knowledge to design more effective and less toxic treatment strategies.

Jamie completed his postdoctoral training in mathematical modelling of cancer dynamics with Prof Franziska Michor at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard University and his PhD on the prediction of radiotherapy side effects using machine learning with Prof Chris Nutting and Dr Sarah Gulliford at The Institute of Cancer Research, London. Prior to his academic career, he trained as a clinical scientist in radiotherapy, MRI and nuclear medicine at The Royal Marsden and St George's Hospitals in London.
